Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship

The National Sea Grant College Program in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, annually sponsors a special graduate education program that is endorsed by Congress.

The Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship allows students interested in marine, ocean, and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources to spend a year in Washington, D.C., working with agency personnel or with personnel in the office of a U.S. Senator or Representative. It is open to all students enrolled in a graduate or professional program in a marine- or aquatic-related field.

The fellowship matches highly qualified graduate students with host agencies in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. The students benefit from a unique, year-long educational experience working on marine and coastal issues on Capitol Hill.

Applications from prospective fellows are due to Delaware Sea Grant by February 19, 2010. To obtain the RFP, please visit www.grants.gov and search for federal funding opportunity #NOAA-OAR-SG-2011-2001833). Selected applications are then forwarded on to the National Sea Grant Office. The competitive selection process and subsequent notification to the Sea Grant programs is completed in June.
