April 9: Undergraduate coastal community fellowship applications due

The University of Delaware’s Sustainable Coastal Communities Program is accepting applications from undergraduate students interested in an opportunity to work on coastal land use issues in Sussex County, Delaware, this summer.

Students will join staff from the Colleges of Earth, Ocean and Environment; Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Education and Public Policy to work on various summer projects that will help Sussex County government and local municipalities address the impacts of growth and development, stimulate economic development, and promote quality of life in Southern Delaware.

All students with an interest in local community issues are encouraged to apply, but students with backgrounds in economics, social science, history, natural resources, environmental science, public policy, agriculture, and political science are especially encouraged. University of Delaware applicants will be given priority, but students from other institutions may apply.

Team-oriented and self-motivated students will be chosen for the 10-week program, which begins June 7 and ends Aug. 13. Fellows will be required to reside in Sussex County during the program and will receive a stipend of $5,000.
