A vibrant coast is essential to our quality of life and critical to our future. The Delaware Sea Grant College Program understands the challenges involved in maintaining a healthy environment and ensuring that society continues to benefit from the coast. We understand the importance of the coast to businesses, industries, communities, homeowners, and beachgoers.
That’s why Sea Grant scientists, educators, and training staff are constantly checking in on our coast. We are assessing the effects of sea-level rise on our shorelines, discovering new ways to prevent water pollution and protect human health, and giving coastal communities the tools they need to promote economic growth and protect valuable resources.
With the support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), state of Delaware, University of Delaware, and many other partners, Delaware Sea Grant checks in on our coast to help landowners prepare for coastal storms, protect beachgoers from harm, and pursue sustainable sources of energy for our children and grandchildren.
This report highlights just a few of the many ways that Delaware Sea Grant works to promote the understanding and appreciation of our coastal environment. I hope you enjoy reading about our activities and invite you to visit our website—www.deseagrant.org—so that you too can continue to check in on our coast!
