Project: Delaware Bay Primary Production Controls by Coastal Upwelling and River Discharge (R/HCE-2)

Occasionally, the lower Delaware Bay experiences sudden bursts in the growth of phytoplankton — microscopic plants that form the base of the bay’s food web. Researcher Jonathan Sharp is investigating the roles that river discharges and deep ocean waters play in this phenomenon. His research may guide the decisions of agencies responsible for managing the health of the bay.
