2017 Annual Report | Volume 36
I am pleased to share with you Delaware Sea Grant’s annual report, which highlights the ways the program has worked to benefit our state’s economy and environment this past year. Delaware Sea Grant takes a comprehensive approach to promoting the wise use, conservation and management of coastal and ocean resources by supporting research with real-world benefits and outreach and extension activities that connect the science to the public.
This year’s Reporter is organized according to the four focus areas the National Sea Grant Office sets for its 33 constituent programs: healthy coastal ecosystems, resilient communities and economies, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and environmental literacy and workforce development. Delaware Sea Grant has active research, education and outreach underway in each of the focus areas, tailored to our state’s specific needs. Municipalities, businesses, resource managers and citizens all benefit from Delaware Sea Grant as they work together to build up and protect our communities.
