Coast Day

Make Plans for Coast Day 2019 on Oct. 6!

Coast Day showcases how University of Delaware scientists, staff, and students are improving our understanding of ocean environments. It shares the work of Delaware Sea Grant to connect communities to the latest science to solve local problems. And it features scores of exhibitors from across the state displaying their own environmental work.

Family-friendly activities include an event-wide treasure hunt for answers to questions about the environment and Coast Day exhibits. Children can meet sea-dwelling animals such as horseshoe crabs and dogfish sharks at the critter touch tanks. Everyone can enjoy live music, vendor displays, and seafood favorites showcased by local chefs at the Crab Cake Cook-Off and the Seafood Chowder Challenge.

Our theme for 2019 is "A Ripple Through Time" and emphasizes the ways scientists study changes in our environment over time and the ways Sea Grant extension agents and others work to improve our future.
